Three candidates file papers in Ramanathapuram and four from Sivaganga

Filing of nominations to contest from the two Lok Sabha constituencies in the April 18 elections picked up momentum on the fourth day of filing of papers on Friday with three candidates filing papers to contest from Ramanathapuram and four from Sivaganga.

Naam Tamizhar Katchi nominee D. Bhuvaneswari, the party’s Thiruvadanai union women’s wing leader, filed her papers before Returning Officer and Collector K. Veera Raghava Rao, while party’s office bearer Kalaijothi filed papers as ‘dummy’ candidate. They were accompanied by district president Nagoor Gani, district secretary Kan Ilango and youth wing leader D ‘Venkulam’ Raju. Besides, G. Vaira Seeman, a farm worker from Kariapatti in Virudhunagar district, filed papers as an independent candidate.

In the by-elections to Paramakudi Assembly constituency, Naam Tamizhar Katchi nominee K. Hemalatha filed her papers before Revenue Divisional Officer Ramesh, who is the RO. She was the only candidate to file papers so far in the constituency.

In Sivaganga, four candidates - Naam Tamizhar Katchi candidate A. Sakthi Priya and three independents - A Vellaidurai of Ezhuchi Tamizhaga Munnetra Kazhagam from Uthangudi in Madurai; C Chidambaram from Kundrakudi; and M. Prabakaran from Sivaganga filed papers to contest from Sivaganga Lok Sabha constituency. They filed the papers before RO and Collector J. Jayakanthan.

In the Assembly by-elections to Manamadurai, Naam Tamizhar Katchi nominee M. Shanmuga Priya filed papers. She was the only candidate to file papers so far in the constituency.
