Drug Lord’s Car Collection Auctioned By US Marshals Is Filled With JDM Goodness

An impressive collection of 29 cars seized by U.S. Marshals is currently up for auction on Apple Auctioneering.

The vehicles once belonged to 34-year-old Kong Meng Vang. The businessman used to own a popular dyno shop but in August 2018, pleaded guilty to drug conspiracy and money-laundering charges in Tulsa federal court. Authorities arrested Vang after finding roughly 1500 lbs (680 kg) of hydroponically grown marijuana in the back of a rental truck at his property.

Vang faces a potential prison sentence of up to 40 years and has had his cars seized. Bad news for him but good news for car enthusiasts in the United States.

This collection is heaven for JDM enthusiasts

Vang’s collection includes a host of highly-desirable Japanese performance cars, many of which can’t even be registered for road use in the United States. The most valuable of these is a blue 1999 Nissan Skyline R34 GTR with 74,125 km (46,059 miles) on the odometer. At the time of writing, the auction had 43 bids and a highest bid of $60,125.

Another particularly desirable car from Vang’s seized collection is a 2000 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI Tommi Makinen Edition. Others include a 1995 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo III, 1996 Honda Integra Type R, 1996 Mazda RX-7 Turbo, 1998 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Type R, 1991 Toyota Supra Turbo, 2009 Nissan GT-R, 1991 Acura NSX, and even a 1972 Datsun 240Z outfitted with a V8 engine and designed for drag racing.

Many of these cars were imported from overseas and are less than 25 years old so they cannot be registered in the U.S.

Bidding on the collection will run through until April 1.
