Prominent Gujarati face in Mumbai Congress Pravin Chheda joins BJP

MUMBAI: Former Congress corporator from Ghatkopar Pravin Chheda joined the BJP on Friday. He was a prominent face in the city Congress from Gujarati community.
Chheda who started his political career from BJP had joined Congress in 2012. Congress had given him important position of opposition leader in the BMC, but Chheda lost 2017 BMC election against BJP’s richest corporator in the city, Parag Shah.
After that Congress tried to keep him active by giving party work, but Chheda never became active in the party activities and it is believed that since long he was exploring other options.
Senior Congress corportor and opposition leader in the BMC Ravi Raja said, “If he joined BJP, it shows that he is an opportunist. The party should be careful about such politicians.”
