The trailer of Nayanthara’s upcoming Tamil horror thriller Airaa was released a week before the film’s release on Wednesday. The film features Nayanthara in double role for the first time in her career and going by the trailer, she plays two diverse characters with no connection whatsoever.

The trailer opens with the line – ‘Have you heard of Bhavani’? It then introduces us to Nayanthara as Yamuna, a content creator on YouTube who makes a living out of making fake ghost stories. We hear her tell her associate that any controversial story sells and will earn the attention of people.

Nayanthara also plays the character called Bhavani, and it can be assumed that it comes in the flashback portion. The entire flashback episode has been shot in black-and-white. It is through this character that we hear how she won’t spare anyone responsible for separating her from Amudha, played by Kalaiarasan in the film.

In a recent interview, director Sarjun revealed that the film is revenge thriller with a paranormal touch that unfolds backwards. It also stars Yogi Babu, Jayaprakash and Malayalam actor Kulappulli Leela in crucial roles. Airaa, which has been produced by KJR Studios, is gearing up for release on March 28.

Following the success of horror flick Maya, high hopes have been pinned on Airaa, which has so far garnered excellent hype, thanks to the unique promotional strategy of the makers.

As part of the film’s promo, KJR Studios are said to have left no stone unturned. They have organised for a bus fitted with an LCD panel on its rear end to play the trailer. The bus will travel across the state during the week leading up to its release.
