The Telangana High Court has clarified that the Enforcement Directorate can continue with the prosecution of the other accused in three cases of disproportionate assets involving the Opposition leader in Andhra Pradesh Assembly, Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.

Earlier, Justice B. Siva Sankara Rao had set aside the prosecution against top bureaucrats B.P. Acharya and Adityanath Das in the disproportionate assets case. The case was being tried by the CBI special court. In the light of the HC order issued on January 21, the CBI court judge wrote a letter to the HC Registrar (Judicial) seeking to know if the prosecution had to be set aside against the other accused in the three cases along with the two officials. The HC clarified that the order applies only to the two officials. The prosecution against the other accused in the three cases can continue, it said.

Meanwhile, the CBI special court has exempted Mr. Reddy from personally appearing in the cases during election campaign following a petition filed by him.
