Dahl pleaded guilty to negligent driving, speeding at more than 100km/h in an 80km/h zone, and having ice and ecstasy in his system, 7News reported.

But he was found not guilty of dangerous driving because the judge deemed the poor road conditions and a lack of warning signs at the bend were partly to blame.

While the judge did consider jail time, he only sentenced Dahl to pay a $250 fine, complete a 12-month intensive corrections order and 200 hours community service.

Outside court, Mr Robinson's distraught mother Becky fought back tears as she described how she was deeply saddened and angry at the 'disappointing' result.

'He took away my son and he just gets a $250 fine - is that all my son's life was worth?' she asked.

Chilling images from the scene showed the car was completely incinerated after it came to a deadly stop.

'Jayke got a death sentence, we all got a life sentence and he (Dahl) walks away scot-free - and he's the one who did all this,' the mother said.

Following the verdict, many people took to social media to comment on the judge's decision.

'WTF is going on with the judicial system in this country. This is beyond a joke,' one person wrote.

'That is so not fair for his parents, l feel a lot of sorrow for them, there is no Justice for the victim's anymore its woeful, very woeful....' another person said

A third person added: 'What an absolute joke. Something needs to be done with our justice system!!!'

Victims of crime advocate Howard Brown told 7News the sentence doesn't send a strong enough message to other motorists - especially when the road toll is so high.

'We already have 93 people dead on the road from motor vehicle collisions - this type of outcome is not deterring people,' Mr Brown said.
