HYDERABAD: Bangaru Shruthi, an engineering graduate and daughter of BJP former national president the late Bangaru Laxman, is the BJP candidate from Nagarkurnool LS seat. She will take on sitting Congress MP Nandi Yellaiah and TRS candidate P Ramulu. In the first list of 10 candidates that was announced on Thursday, the party dropped Secunderabad sitting MP and former Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya and nominated former Amberpet MLA G Kishan Reddy instead.

BJP MLC N Ramchander Rao has been fielded from Malkajgiri, while Chinta Sambamurthy is the nominee from Warangal.

‘BJP wooing Jithender Reddy for Chevella’

Interestingly, BJP has not yet named candidates for Hyderabad, Chevella, Medak and Khammam LS seats. According to sources, BJP is wooing AP Jithender Reddy of TRS, who was not re-nominated by TRS from Mahbubnagar, to contest from Chevella.

Senior Congress leader DK Aruna, who joined BJP, will enter the poll fray from Mahbubnagar. Former Congress leader and TRS Rajya Sabha member D Srinvias’s son Dharmapuri Arvind will take on TRS MP Kavitha from Nizamabad. He was assured LS ticket by the party leadership at the time of his joining last year. The BJP gave tickets to loyal party leaders Bandi Sanjay (Karimnagar), Hussain Naik (Mahbubabad), Jithendra Garlpati (Nalgonda) and PV Shyam Sunder (Bhongir). Though some senior leaders such as Ramchander Rao and Kishan Reddy have got a chance to try their luck in LS elections, BJP state president K Laxman, who aspired for Secunderabad ticket, has been asked to campaign for party candidates.
