The BJP leadership on Thursday confirmed the list of Lok Sabha candidates in Tamil Nadu, disclosed by party national general secretary H. Raja on Wednesday.
The party has fielded sitting MP and Union Minister Pon. Radhakrishnan from Kanniyakumari; its State unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan from Thoothukudi; former AIADMK Minister Nainar Nagendran in Ramanathapuram; former two-time MP C. P. Radhakrishnan in Coimbatore and H. Raja in Sivaganga. A prominent aspirant, who has been left out, is Vanathi Srinivasan as the Tirupur seat from where she reportedly desired to contest, was retained by the AIADMK.
While she was open to contesting in Coimbatore, Mr. Radhakrishnan’s hold on the constituency was something the party could not afford to overlook, sources said.
