Operation King Cobra continues

Heavy vehicles found violating traffic rules and sale and use of ganja in labour camps came under the scanner of the city police as part of the ongoing Operation King Cobra aimed at reining in anti-social activities.

As many as 427 heavy vehicles were examined, and ₹58,000 was collected as fine under the Motor Vehicles Act. Around 25 cases were registered, and ganja was seized following inspections in 100-odd migrant camps.

Besides, 100-odd history-sheeters were arrested, while more such people are under surveillance, District Police Chief (Kochi City) S. Surendran said. This was in addition to the arrest of 60 absconding accused.
