Police negotiators brought a peaceful end to a situation at the Canberra Hospital about 7.10pm on Wednesday night.

ACT Policing officers responded to a call for assistance about 3.30pm, and general duties and specialist response group negotiators attended the scene.

A 46-year-old man remains in custody and the situation was resolved without incident.
