The strength of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the Assembly is likely to cross the century mark with Congress MLA from Kollapur B. Harshavardhan Reddy announcing his decision to cross over on Wednesday. The party also had the backing of a nominated MLA, which has taken its tally to 101.
Mr. Reddy met TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao to convey his decision and resignation from the Assembly to seek fresh election, if need be.
The TRS had 88 members in the 119-member House when it was constituted in December. Initially, two Independents extended their support to the party. So far, nine out of the 19 members of the Congress, including Mr. Reddy, and one of the Telugu Desam Party have announced their decision to join the TRS. The TRS claims five more Congress MLAs are in touch with it.
