Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has alleged that the United Democratic Front (UDF) is planning to forge a clandestine alliance with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI).
Addressing family meets as part of the election campaign at Anjarakkandy here on Thursday, Mr. Vijayan said covert coalition moves of different types were under way now.
Pathetic state
Stating that those moves exposed the pathetic state of the UDF, he said the electorate should defeat the ‘Congress-League-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance.’
Secularism should uncompromisingly oppose all types of communalism, he said, adding the UDF was trying to use communal forces to get their votes.
The Congress, the Indian Union Muslim League, and the UDF would not survive through such deals with communal forces, he added.
Country’s survival
Observing that the anti-Bharatiya Janata Party sentiments had gained strength in the country, Mr. Vijayan said the BJP and the RSS were trying to destroy the Constitution.
If the BJP came to power, the very survival of the country would be under threat, he said.
UPA’s policies
It was the ‘anti-people’ attitude of the United Progressive Alliance and the Congress that had brought the BJP to power, the Chief Minister said adding both had the same economic policies.
When the Babri Masjid was demolished the Congress remained silent, he said.
He also took a dig at the Congress, saying that it had become a recruiting agency for the BJP.
The Chief Minister would address CPI(M)-organised family meets in different parts of the district and in Kasaragod till March 25.
