HC stresses the need for parental care

more-in

The Kerala High Court has observed that the lack of parental care perhaps is one of the reasons for the child resorting to online video games.

The court made the observation while directing the CBSE to allow a Plus Two student, who was short of attendance due to his addiction to online games, to write the examination.

Attendance shortage

The court noted that the boy was a brilliant student and had scored high marks in Class X examinations.

However, during his Plus Two studies, he got addicted to online games and missed several classes, resulting in the shortage of attendance. His parents had weaned him off his addiction.

The court noted that the consultant psychiatrist’s report revealed that he was now physically and mentally fit and had come out of the addiction to the video games.

Though counsel for the CBSE opposed the plea of the student to allow him to appear for the 12th board examination, the school authorities took a stance in favour of the student.
