Dybala and De Ligt

This one is getting a lot of attention online - and for obvious reasons.

Reports in Italy this week claimed the Reds were “serious” about making a move for Juve star Dybala in the upcoming window, with Jurgen Klopp reportedly keen to significantly boost his firepower for next season.

However any potential fee for Dybala is likely to be in excess of €100million given the current market rate for world stars such the gifted Argentina international.

Such sums comfortably dwarf the £75m Liverpool paid to make Virgil van Dijk the most expensive player in Anfield history in January 2018.

The same applies to Ajax captain De Ligt, who saw his name connected with Liverpool earlier this month after he hinted he would be keen on a move to Anfield.

The 19-year-old centre-back is one of world football’s most highly-rated prospects and partners Van Dijk at the heart of the Netherlands defence.

Alberto Moreno posts pictures from Rome amidst Lazio transfer whispers

Alberto Moreno is in Rome during the international break as the Spanish left-back reportedly seeks to tie up a pre-contract agreement with Serie A side Lazio.

The 26-year-old’s five-year spell at Anfield could come to a close when his contract expires in the summer.

The defender uploaded images from his trip to Rome to his Instagram Story on Wednesday, sharing photos of him with his family and with former Reds teammate Lucas Leiva, who joined Lazio in 2017.

Trent Alexander-Arnold injury latest

Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold has been released from the England squad and has reported back to his club for treatment.

The Reds right-back – who sustained a back injury against Burnley at Anfield on March 10 – has not picked up any ‘new’ problems but has been training and playing through pain since.

England’s staff were made aware of the 20-year-old’s current physical condition but wanted their own medical team to assess him before making a decision while the ECHO understands that Alexander-Arnold himself did not want to make himself unavailable for Gareth Southgate given the respect he has for the national team boss and reported on Monday to give himself every chance of being involved.

Although the issue has not improved, and has hence prompted his omission from the squad, it is not believed that Alexander-Arnold is at this stage a doubt for Liverpool’s forthcoming matches.

Jurgen Klopp’s side resume action on Sunday March 31 at home to Tottenham Hotspur and homegrown hero Alexander-Arnold has already proven his determination to play through the pain barrier and help his club in their games against Burnley, Bayern Munich and Fulham.

Woodburn and Liverpool praised by Man Utd legend after dramatic late winner for Wales

Liverpool’s Ben Woodburn got a welcome boost in what has been a difficult season as he netted a dramatic last-gasp winner for Wales in their international friendly against Trinidad & Tobago.

Now Wales manager Ryan Giggs has praised the youngster:

“He’s at a very good club who will look after him,” he said.

“Very often the first loan move doesn’t quite happen for different reasons. Sheffield United were doing so well and he was in and out of the team, but he’s back now and he looks fit but when you’ve got that talent it doesn’t go away.

“Now he’s got himself in really good physical condition and he’s a threat. The last few camps he’s been really good in training and you can see the quality. I was dying to give him a game.

“it was great to see him score late on and persevere like he did tonight.”

Fundraising campaign set up to support Stephen Darby's Motor Neurone Disease foundation

The football world has rallied around Stephen Darby after it was revealed that the former Liverpool defender has been forced to retire.

Darby, 30, has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease and was forced to hang up his boots last year amidst his battle against the rare illness.

Right-back Darby made six senior appearances for the Reds between 2008 and 2011 before he moved to Bradford City in 2012.

The 29-year-old made over 200 appearances for Bradford before making a switch to Bolton in the summer of 2017. He was part of the Bantams side that went all the way to the League Cup final in 2013 as they were beaten by Swansea at Wembley.

Now Steve Parkin, who is currently the assistant manager at Bolton Wanderers and previously worked at Bradford City, is fundraising to support a foundation that Darby set up to help others suffering with MND.

Man City two-time PL winner claims no player from Liverpool squad would get into his former side

Joleon Lescott has claimed that no player from Liverpool’s squad would get in Manchester City’s starting XI.

Pep Guardiola’s side and the Reds are going head to head for the Premier League title.

Former City defender Lescott, a two-time title winner with City, believes his old club have the superior side.

Lescott told SportingBet : “Both Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp will each be happy with their own team and their players suit their styles of football.

“I’m not sure I’d take a single one of Liverpool’s players for Man City’s team, but it’s fair to say both have put together great squads.

“From a Man City perspective, I have been very impressed with Aymeric Laporte this season, who has arguably made a similar impact to what Virgil Van Dijk has at Liverpool.”

Besiktas president 'trying to accelerate loan return' of Karius

Besiktas president Fikret Orman is reportedly trying to work on a solution to send Loris Karius back to Liverpool.

Yesterday, it was claimed by Turkiye Gazetesi that the goalkeeper wanted to end his Besiktas nightmare and return to Liverpool.

Now Gunes report Orman will hold talks with Liverpool in regards to cutting Karius’ loan deal short, and if he cannot negotiate an early return he will speak with Karius to resolve the situation.

Karius claims he has not been paid promised wages since arriving in Turkey with the Reds supporting his complaints.

The goalkeeper has also been slammed by manager Senol Gunes after a recent error.

Henderson motivated by disappointment

Jordan Henderson says he is using the experience of narrowly missing out on silverware to help motivate himself and his team.

The Liverpool captain was part of the side that lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League final in May while also having a major role in helping England to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup in Russia last summer.

Speaking ahead of the Three Lions’ European qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Montenegro, Henderson said he feels he can channel the feelings of disappointment to help secure some silverware in the future.

“I think it always stays with you, those moments,” the England midfielder said.

“It gives you even more motivation to keep going, keep wanting to be in that position again to make it right, and go that final step really.

“It’s definitely an extra motivation that I use. Maybe I had a little taste of it playing in finals but I haven’t really managed to win the big trophies, and now that’s the next step really.

“I don’t really look at it [the experience] as a benefit for me, I look at it as a benefit for the team more than anything.

“When you’ve got players that have been in that situation before, of experience, big games, semi-finals, finals, big competitions, then it’s good for the team - especially to be able to help the younger lads cope with bigger occasions and give them a little bit of experience on what to expect.

“The more players you have playing in those finals, the better really.”

Moreno 'close to agreeing deal with Lazio'

Let’s start with a bit of transfer news about Alberto Moreno.

The national media are claiming he is ‘close to agreeing a deal with Lazio’.

The left-back has only made five appearances for Liverpool this season, with the most recent coming in the FA Cup defeat by Wolves in January.

The Spaniard, who moved to Anfield from Sevilla in 2014, is out of contract this summer and has reportedly accepted he has no future on Merseyside.

And according to The Independent and Daily Mail, Moreno has now decided on a fresh start in Serie A.

It is claimed that Roma had been keen on signing the 26-year-old on a free transfer, but the departure of sporting director Monchi has complicated the situation.

That has allowed Lazio to become front-runners ahead of Real Betis, who had shown an interest in bringing Moreno back to Spain.
