The Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP took to social media on Wednesday to call each other out on unfulfilled promises, including AAP’s promise of transparency regarding donations and BJP’s pledge for granting full statehood to Delhi.
Sharing a meme about waiting for the BJP’s website to be restored, which has been down after being hacked, the AAP Delhi Twitter handle took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been using the “Main bhi chowkidar” campaign ahead of Lok Sabha elections.
AAP Delhi said in a tweet: “Its been 15 days @BJP4India website is still down. Guess who failed to safeguard his own website ?...[sic]”.
Replying to the tweet, BJP Delhi shared a screenshot from the AAP website that showed the party’s promise to publish details of “every single rupee” donated to it on its site. Along with the image, BJP Delhi said in the tweet: “AAP is worried about BJP’s website when their own website doesn’t show any details they had promised! Such frivolous attitude is only expected from AAP. Rather than focusing on BJP they should focus on Delhi and give Ayushmann Bharat and 10% EWS Reservation to Delhiites.”
The AAP Delhi handle hit back, sharing a screenshot of BJP Delhi’s tweet from June 10, 2013, saying the “political resolution adopted by the BJP national executive includes the support for full statehood for Delhi”.
“Now that you’ve reminded about Delhi, There’s something the people of Delhi are still waiting for... FULL STATEHOOD! Mind to deliver what you promised or was it just another JUMLA ? [sic],” AAP Delhi wrote in the tweet.
