Bling set for comeback after horror crash puts him in hospital
Canberra cyclist Michael Matthews will make his comeback from concussion when he races in the 291 kilometre Milan-Samremo this weekend.
Matthews crashed in the opening stage of the Paris-Nice event two weeks ago when he was swept off his bike by strong winds and clipped the rear wheel of a team car.
Team Sunweb coach Luke Roberts said: "After Michael's tough crash in Paris-Nice last week we're pleased to see him back in action this weekend.
"After a recovery period off the bike we will have to see what's possible in the race. He has a good basis and is cleared to race by our medical team and hopefully he can get to the final if we have a reduced bunch."
The crash left Matthews battered and bruised, but he has resumed training in the past week and returned to road cycling on Wednesday.
