IndyCar driver Ed Jones has been cleared to contest this weekend's race at the Circuit of the Americas after breaking his hand in the season opener at St Petersburg.
Ed Carpenter Racing Scuderia Corsa driver Jones clipped the inside wall at Turn 9 during the race on March 10, which fired the car across the track and heavily into the concrete barrier.
He suffered a small non-displaced fracture of the distal fourth metacarpal in his left ring finger in the impact. Jones met with a hand surgeon in Miami after the race for treatment, leading to it being splinted.
Following an examination by IndyCar medical director Dr Geoffrey Billows, Jones has been given the go-ahead to compete.
