U.S. Figure Skater Accused of Deliberately Slashing Opponent's Leg with Skate

((VO-American Flag/ SK Flag/Skates))??Korean officials have launched a probe into whether or not an American figure skater intentionally injured a South Korean opponent during the ongoing World Championships.????((VO-Getty Lim Photo))??South Korea’s Lim Eun-soo was reportedly left with a gash on her calf after she was struck by one of U.S. Skater Mariah Bell’s skates.

According to The Telegraph, Lim’s agency is accusing Mariah Bell of intentionally injuring her opponent.????((VO-Mariah Getty))??The Telegraph reports that a representative of All That Sports said, “Mariah Bell, who was scheduled to rehearse after Lim, suddenly kicked and stabbed Lim’s calf with her skate blade.” The official also reportedly said that Mariah Bell neglected to apologize.????((VO-Generic Skate Close Ups))??The International Skating Union Released a Statement on its site saying they are aware of the incident and “Based on the evidence at hand at this point in time, which includes a video, there is no evidence that Ms. Bell intended any harm to Ms. Lim.”????((VO-Harding/Kerrigan Getty))??Lim’s injury on Wednesday brought back memories of the infamous 1994 scandal that rocked the figure skating world involving U.S. skaters Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding.

????Newsweek notes that Kerrigan was attacked a day before the beginning of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships and the assailant was hired by Harding’s ex husband.??
