THANJAVUR: Two Independent candidates filed their papers to contest the elections to the Thanjavur Parliamentary Constituency here on Thursday.
One among them was the State general secretary, Tamil Nadu Coconut Manufacturers Association, Rajendran of Vettikadu in Pattukottai taluk. He had contested the 2004 Parliamentary elections to Pudukottai MP seat as an Independent candidate. The other person was Alexander of Thanjavur, a salt trader. Both of them submitted their nomination papers to the District Election Officer-cum-Returning Officer of the Thanjavur Parliamentary Constituency and the Collector, A.Annadurai on Thursday.
Two Independents, P.Rajesh and N.Raja, filed their nominations for the Mayiladuthurai Lok Sabha constituency.
