Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Claims Lap Record At Hockenheim

The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ now holds the unofficial lap record at Hockenheim. The Italian supercar completed the course in 1 minute and 47.3 seconds, with pro-racing driver Christian Gebhardt at the helm.

Conducted by SportAuto, the quick lap was filmed from the cockpit and shows the punishing treatment that the Aventador SVJ was subjected to. The record-breaking run starts at the 1:30 mark, but before that, Gebhardt had some fun in a Lamborghini Countach S.

Even before breaking cover last summer, the Aventador SVJ held the headlines after lapping the Nurburgring in a record 6 minutes and 44.97 seconds. The run took place a few months before its unveiling and, to this date, the SVJ still holds the record, after dethroning the Porsche 911 GT2 RS by more than 2 seconds.

The active aerodynamic system that increases downforce by 40 percent while also reducing drag, and the 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine, have made the SVJ the most capable Aventador yet. Lamborghini said that despite weighing 1,525 kg (3,362 lbs) dry, it needs only 2.8 seconds to accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph), en route to a 350+ km/h (217+ mph) top speed.

The old school V12 pumps out 770 PS (759 hp / 566 kW) and 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) of torque, and also equips the Roadster version of the car, which debuted at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show a few weeks back.
