KSRTC suspends Mangaluru Divisional Controller

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has suspended Mangaluru Divisional Controller P. Yashwanth Kumar from services pending inquiry on the charge of misconduct.

Mr. Kumar had recently taken charge as the Mangaluru Divisional Controller following his transfer from Hassan. It was alleged that the official was getting files of the Hassan Division and disposing them of since his successor was not yet posted there. The vigilance wing of the corporation, which was tipped off his action, inspected the Mangaluru office and found files of Hassan Division.

An investigation was conducted and the officer was prima facie found guilty, said KSRTC Director (Security and Vigilance) P.S. Harsha. A report was submitted to the disciplinary authority, the Managing Director, who took the decision to suspend the Divisional Controller pending disciplinary proceedings.

KSRTC Managing Director Shivayogi C. Kalasad confirmed the action and said that it was purely an administrative decision. Along with Mr. Kumar, an administrative officer in the Hassan Division too was suspended.

Mr. Kumar was suspended earlier too when he was the Divisional Mechanical Engineer at KSRTC’s Chikkamagaluru Division in 2008. He along with four other officials was kept under suspension in a “battery cable” scam where battery cables had allegedly been bought at double the market price without inviting tenders.
