Ludhiana: The police arrested a Nigerian after heroin and crack cocaine were recovered from his possession on GT road in Alour, Khanna, on Wednesday.
Harrison Chinedu Naji, a native of Abuja in Nigeria and resident of Delhi’s Raj Nagar, had procured the contraband from Delhi to deliver it in Ludhiana.

Police said at a check post in Alour, a car (DL7CG-3400) coming from Gobindgarh side was signalled to stop. But instead of jamming on the brakes, its driver, Harrison, tried to flee. He was chased and intercepted. During checking, a kilogram of heroin, five grams of crack cocaine, four cellphones and a silver chain were found in his car.

Following the recoveries, Harrison was arrested under the NDPS Act. “We are trying to get details about the owner of the car Harrison was driving. The recovered heroin is worth Rs 5 to Rs 7.5 crore in international market. Crack cocaine is a costly drug. Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused, who is in his twenties, has overstayed his tourist visa,” said a cop.

Crack cocaine is a chemically purified, very potent cocaine in pellet form that is smoked through a glass pipe and is considered highly and rapidly addictive.

Khanna police said since July 13, 2018, they have arrested 21 Nigerians with 10.4 kilograms heroin, 22 grams cocaine, 18 grams of Ice drug and 5 grams of crack cocaine.
