Sweeteners to do teacher-training in England could be undermining Welsh language education

Financial sweeteners to do teaching training in England could be behind a decline in the number of Welsh speaking teachers.

Only 34% of teachers registered with the Education Workforce Council Wales are listed as speaking Welsh, and that doesn’t necessarily mean they are able to teach in the language.

The Airbus 'Flying Honu' is delivered to final A380 customer

Airbus has delivered the first ‘Flying Honu’ to what will probably be the last A380 customer. Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) has taken delivery of its first A380 at a special ceremony in Toulouse, becoming the 15th operator of the world’s largest passenger aircraft. ANA has ordered three A380s and will operate the aircraft on the popular route between Tokyo Narita and Honolulu from May 24.

Millions set for pensions boost as DWP unveil new type of scheme used in Netherlands and Denmark

Millions could soon benefit from better retirement savings after the Department for Work and Pensions approved a new type of pension scheme today. Work and Pensions Secretary Amber Rudd today rubber-stamped plans for the first Collective Define Contribution (CDC) scheme in the UK after the pensions industry, insurers and other bodies welcomed the move. Proposed by Royal Mail and the Communication Workers Union (CWU), the new scheme offers “more certainty” in retirement, by providing regular pay-outs.

GPs’ patients told they’ll be BANNED over social media complaints

Two GP surgeries have warned patients they will be kicked off the list if they post derogatory comments about them on social media. Park House Surgery in Prestatyn and Westfield Surgery in Rhyl have introduced a new zero tolerance policy after a recent backlash on Facebook. A notice posted in the practices and on their website says negative comments could be viewed as a “potential breakdown in the doctor-patient relationship” and could result in patients “being removed from the list.”

Traffic warden parked on double yellow lines while booking others for doing the same

A traffic warden was caught parking on double yellow lines while he booked others for doing the same. The Wrexham council officer was parked on the pavement along Well Street in Cefn Mawr in front of a car park - despite what appeared to be a parking space lying empty next to his car. But the council said the space was not empty at the time he pulled up to start dishing out the fines.

Neo-Nazi suspect ‘entered Miss Hitler contest to draw new National Action members’

A neo-Nazi terror suspect entered a “Miss Hitler” beauty competition after taking on the nickname Buchenwald Princess, a court has heard. Alice Cutter is alleged to have entered in a bid to attract new members to a far-right extremist group, BirminghamLive reports. Cutter, 22, won the competition organised by National Action.
