Work on Cosiema industrial estate to begin this year
TNN | Mar 21, 2019, 04:50 ISTCoimbatore: The purchase of land for the proposed industrial estate at Kinathukkadavu near the city by Coimbatore Sidco Industrial Estate Manufacturers Welfare Association (Cosiema) was almost over, said its representatives. The association would soon move for clearances and begin the construction activities in five months, they said.
President of Cosiema S Surulivel said the association has completed land purchase procedures for 38acres out of the total 42acres. “We would complete the procedures for the remaining four acres within the next week,” he said.
After the land purchase procedures are over, the association would apply for the necessary approvals and clearances before taking up the construction, Surulivel said. “We would start the construction in five months and would complete it in 2020,” he said.
The budget for the land for the estate and infrastructure development such as roads was Rs80crore, he said. “In addition to this, the member firms would invest Rs5crore to Rs10crore each, which would be around Rs165crore,” he said.
Fifty-two member-firms would set up plants at the estate, Surulivel said. They have also planned to set up a common tool room at the estate, he added. “We have an idea to set up a common tool room in the estate and we are looking to seek government subsidy under a scheme which would give subsidy up to Rs10crore,” he said.
Of late, small industry associations in the district have come up to set up industrial parks. The 400acre Codissia Industrial Parks at Mopperipalayam and Kallapalayam near the city were inaugurated on February. Similarly, Tamil Nadu Association of Cottage and Micro Enterprises (TACT) has come up with a proposal to set up an industrial estate in the district.
