Ujjain: Administration gears up for festival of colours

The festival of colours ‘Holi’ will be celebrated on Thursday. Administration has started preparations to maintain law and order during the festival.  Collector Shashank Mishra instructed officials to ensure adequate security arrangement around Mahakaleshwar, other temples and sensitive areas.

Civic body officials were also instructed to maintain cleanliness and to make proper arrangements of fire brigade and fire fighters to cope with any untoward incident of fire at any place. MPEB officials, civil surgeon and CMHO were also instructed make proper arrangements. The officials were told to ensure compliance with the model code of conduct.

Markets decked up with colours, devotees start playing colours at temples
The markets of the city have been decked up with water guns and colours on the two days short of Holi. Women started making delicious guzias and other traditional dishes to celebrate the festival.

Devotees play holi in Krishna temples
Devotees enjoyed ‘holi’ at Krishna temples across the city. In Gopal Mandir priests smear ‘gulal’ on idols of lord Krishna while at Dhaba Road located Shrinath Ji Ki Haveli Vaishnav sect followers played hold with flowers and colours and enjoyed holi. Holi was played at other Krishna temples of the city.

Holika to be lit on Wednesday
According to Hindu calendar holika will be burnt across the city on Wednesday.
The festival of holi will start with its burning at Mahakaleshwar temple. According to Shri Mahakaleshwar temple management committee (MTMC) during evening-arti ‘gulal’ will be offered to lord Shiva and aftermath the holika will be burnt in the temple premises with all rituals.

Aarti timings to be changed from Thursday
According to the MTMC from Thursday (dhulendi) the scheduled timings of the artis will be changed. According to new schedule ‘Bhasmarti’ to be performed on 4am daily while ‘Dadyodak arti will start from 7am, ‘Bhog’ arti from 10am, evening arti from 7 pm Shayan arti will start from 10.30 daily.

Bhopuji to sing hymns at Mahakaleshwar temple
Mahakaleshwar temple priests Prashant Sharma informed that eminent singer Bhopuji will present hymns on Wednesday in the temple premises at the same time devotees will play holi with flower petals and herbal gulal.

Jain Social group play with gulal
Jain social group organised ‘Fag-Utsav’ on Tuesday in which couples played holi with colours. The programme was convened by Dr CK Kasliwl and Dr Neelam Selwadiya. Pramod Jain presided over the programme. The programme was conducted by Rajesh Jain and Ashok Jain expressed gratitude. Likewise Neema community also celebrated fag-utsav on Tuesday.

Khandelwal community to play Tilak-Holi today
Khandelwal community members will play ‘Tilak Holi’ on Wednesday. The members took decision in the meeting of the members. According to president Dharmendra  Gupta and secretary Shyam S Jhalani the community members unanimously agreed on the proposal.

Laughter poet symposium to be held today
Malipura Snaskritik Samiti every year organises the poet symposium on the prior evening of the festival of Holi at Malipura area. The committee will organise the programme on Wednesday said mentor Santyanarayan Chouhan. The programme will start on 9 pm. Chouhan said on this occasion the entire area will be adorned with multi colour flowers with beautiful lighting. On this occasion laughter poet PK Dhut, Padmini Sharma, Hashim Firozabadi, Anil Tejswa, Jagdish Jiwant and others will tickle the audience. Poet Ashok Bhati will conduct the programme.

Dry day declared
The administration declared dry day on Thursday on the occasion of Holi and on Rangpanchami. According to officials instruction on these days till 3PM the liquor shops will remain closed.

Civic body makes arrangements for supply of extra water on festivals
On the occasion of Holi and Rangpanchami the civic body will arrange additional water supply in the city. According to officials on Holi the additional supply will start from 1pm and on Rangpanchami it will start from 2 pm for one hour.

Bhajan Sandhya to be held today
A programme of hymns will also be organised in front of Mahakaleshwar temple on Wednesday. Organizing committee member Rishabhbabu Yadav informed that noted singer of Himachal Pradesh Hansraj Raghuvanshi will present hymns.
