School trustee thrashed, held for molesting girls

Arvind Sawalia being thrashed by some parentsRajkot: A school trustee, who allegedly molested several girls, was thrashed by parents and handed over over to the police in Jetpur town on Wednesday.
The incident happened at a prominent English medium school in Sardar Chowk in Jetpur.
According to the complaint lodged by the mother of one of the girls, Arvind Sawalia (50), the school trustee, used to molest the girls after calling them inside his cabin.
“Sawalia would touch the girls inappropriately after promising them of giving good marks in the SSC examination. He would tell the girls that the school had got the exam centre and that he would allow them to cheat too,” said V K Patel, inspector with Jetpur city police station.
On Wednesday morning, when Sawalia again called a girl into his cabin and molested her, she came out and raised a cry. She called up her parents, who along with the parents of the other girls rushed to the school.
“The girls’ parents thrashed Sawalia, locked him in a room and called up the police. We arrested Sawalia on the complaint of the girl’s mother,” added Patel.
Sawalia was booked under Section 354 (A), dealing with molestation and under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
