Campaign trail has Gandhi footprints
Yusra Husain | TNN | Mar 20, 2019, 08:09 ISTALLAHABAD/MIRZAPUR: The debut election tour of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in Uttar Pradesh has been carefully planned. The places selected to be on her campaign map resonate with the past, aimed to be drawing memories of her family's solid political success.
Her well-researched itinerary for the campaign ahead of Lok Sabha elections is dotted with prominent places visited by her father Rajiv Gandhi and grandmother Indira Gandhi - both former Prime Ministers - before, after and between elections. Her brother Rahul and mother Sonia have also marked their presence at some of the places, seeking blessings of deities or forging relationships with communities.
Beginning from Allahabad on Monday, Priyanka marked stops at the Sangam and Hanuman temple before moving to Vindhyachal temple and Kantit Dargah Shareef in Mirzapur. Her journey will culminate for this round in Varanasi with a visit to the Kashi Vishwanath temple. All these places have the footprints of her illustrious family members who have left an impact on India's political landscape.
