Static Surveillance Team (SST) and Flying Squad Team (FST) officials during a routine check seized 11.677 kg gold and 60 diamonds, together worth about Rs 4 crore, at Pallipattu check post in GD Nellore constituency, on Tuesday. The valuables were being brought from Chennai, officials said.

The seized valuables were handed over to Treasury Department Deputy Director Gangadri, and has been kept safe in a strong room amid tight security.
According to SST/FST district Nodal Officer Arunakumari, the gold and diamonds were being transported from Chennai to Tirupati through BVC Logistic Couriers. When the courier vehicle was checked by SST and FST personnel, they found gold ornaments and valuable diamonds kept in boxes.
SST team leader Srinivasarao and AEO Vijay Narsimhulu immediately informed Arunakumari who reached the place and handed over the boxes to District Treasury Department after sealing them.
Arunakumari told media that the gold and diamonds were being transported to Tirupati from Chennai without proper receipts. The Static Surveillance and Flying Squad teams seized the valuables following directions from the Election Commission of India.
The Nodal Officer said the value of the seized gold and diamonds, reportedly belonging to Malabar Gold and Diamond Jewellery group, was estimated to be Rs 4 crore.
