Mangaluru: P Yashwanth Kumar, KSRTC Mangaluru divisional controller, has been placed under suspension pending inquiry on charges of misconduct.

Kumar recently took charge as divisional controller at Mangaluru. He was transferred from Hassan and was allegedly getting files of Hassan’s KSRTC division and disposing them of here as no one had been posted there in his place.

Acting on a tip off, vigilance wing of KSRTC inspected the Mangaluru divisional office and found files of Hassan division. P S Harsha, director (security and vigilance), KSRTC said Yashwanth was found prima facie guilty following an investigation that was carried out and a report was submitted to Shivayogi C Kalasad, managing director of KSRTC, also the disciplinary authority. Kalasad initiated action based on the report.

Kalasad said it was an administrative decision adding that along with Yashwanth, an administrative officer at Hassan too has been placed under suspension. Yashwanth incidentally was suspended when he was divisional mechanical engineer at Chikkamagaluru in 2008 for his alleged involvement in a battery cable scam where batteries were bought at double the market price without tenders being called
