LUCKNOW: Reacting to Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's boat sojourn from Allahabad to Varanasi, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said the AICC general secretary and party's eastern UP in-charge should thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts to clean the Ganga that made it possible for her to embark on a river campaign.
"What could not be achieved by the four generations of the Gandhi family has been done by the BJP-led NDA government. The opposition parties cannot raise a finger on the 'nirmalta' of Ganga,'' he said.
Yogi said that it would have been better if Congress president Rahul Gandhi had accompanied his sister to see the change that have been brought in the quality of the Ganga water.
"Not only Rahul, Congress leaders should have also brought their SP and BSP friends too to see how the quality of Ganga water has improved under the Namami Gange project. They would have thanked Prime MInister Narendra Modi,'' he said.
The chief minsiter said it was because of the efforts taken by PM Modi that Ganga water has turned suitable for travelling and drinking.
Priyanka is scheduled to undertake the second leg of her river journey from Varanasi to Balli from the end of this month.
