Shoppers have been scrambling to purchase Birds Eye's Deli Style chips from Coles after the supermarket slashed their price to just 98 cents.
The parmesan and garlic flavoured gourmet chips, which usually retail for $3.95, quietly went on sale over the weekend, with customers alerting each other to the major savings in Facebook groups.
'Thank you so much to the original poster. We love these but can never afford them. I did leave some in the store,' one woman wrote online, sharing a photo of her eight-bag haul.

The Birds Eye rosemary and garlic roast potatoes are also the same price, with just as many customers hoping to get their hands on a packet or two.
'I just went to a Coles in Western Australia and they had a full freezer,' one excited chip lover wrote.
But some people were less than impressed that their local store didn't have the same markdown.

'If it says anything other than 98c it will still scan at that price when you take it up to the front and pay,' one person helpfully answered.
It's not known how many stores are involved in the sale but those who have been sharing images are doing so from all over Australia.

'Coles is clearing space for an exciting new range of products that is set to land in stores across Australia over the next couple of weeks… watch this space,' they said.
Online commenters are guessing that the items are either being discontinued or coming back with new and improved packaging, but this is unconfirmed.
