The annual India Pakistan maritime dialogue has been cancelled due to recent tensions between the two countries.

“The dialogue was scheduled to be held from March 19-21. However, it now stands cancelled,” a defence source confirmed.

The dialogue is chaired by Indian Coast Guard and Pakistan Maritime Security Agency based on a Memorandum of Understating signed in 2005.

Last year, New Delhi hosted the dialogue which was held after a gap of two years.

This year, the Indian team was to go to Pakistan. In 2017, the talks were cancelled due to tensions following the Uri terror attack and India’s surgical strikes.
