HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress working president A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday threw a challenge at TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to contest against him from Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency.
“If CM KCR has the courage and confidence, he should contest against me from Malkajgiri, and not field a realtor or a broker. I will win with a majority of two lakh votes if all the unemployed youth in the constituency vote for the Congress,” Revanth Reddy said addressing a meeting of party leaders, workers and residents from Malkajgiri constituency at LB Nagar.
Revanth compared KCR to Bakasur, a demon from Mahabharata and said: “KCR wants to swallow the entire opposition by encouraging defections. But on the lines of Pandavas winning the Kurukshetra war despite the Kauravas being far more in number, the Congress will win the battle against the TRS in Telangana.”
Stating that he is the one who has the potential to politically finish off KCR, Revanth said this will be possible only if the Congress cadre work hard. “I will lead from the front as the commander and fight. I need the support of workers and all sections of voters to make Malkajgiri one of the most developed constituencies,” he said.
On Sabitha Indra Reddy and D Sudheer Reddy, the two Congress MLAs who have announced that they will join the TRS, Revanth said: “It is Sabitha who told me to contest from Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat. Sudheer Reddy too wanted me to enter the electoral fray from Malkajgiri. In the Assembly elections, I took out time from my campaign schedule in Kodangal and went to campaign for Sudheer Reddy in LB Nagar. But see how these MLAs are leaving their mother (Congress) who nurtured and brought them up to this stage. They need to answer to the people.”
