PUNE: In yet another alarming incident, students of the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) found a worm in the food served at the refectory on Tuesday afternoon.

Students claimed this isn’t the first time the refectory has served contaminated food. They have often discovered insects on their plates.

Even in the past, students have repeatedly complained about the bad food quality served at the refectory. Vice Chancellor Nitin Karmalkar had previously assured regular checks on the food quality served there.

University officials said that the refectory in-charge officers were present during the incident.

They took cognisance of the matter. Immediately, the cooked vegetable dish in which they found the worm, was replaced with another vegetable. Karmalkar said considerable measures would be taken to avoid repetition of such an incident.
