Investigating the murder of Congress leader, Damoh police on Monday rounded up four suspects and seized three vehicles used in the crime. Seven key accused, including family members of sitting BSP MLA, are still at large. Congress leader Devendra Chourasia, who had switched over from the BSP a few days ago, was killed and his son critically injured in an attack in Hatta of Damoh district on March 15.
IG Law and order Makrand Douskar said that police on Monday detained four suspects in connection with murder of Congress leader, while seven accused, including family member of the sitting BSP MLA are on the run. The detained suspects include Anish, Raja, Monu and one more. Police have also seized the three vehicles including one four wheeler and two two-wheelers used in the crime, said IG.
Damoh police have announced reward of Rs 10,000 for information about the seven absconding accused including the family members of the sitting BSP MLA from Patharia Rama Bai Parihar. Police are on a look out for MLA’s husband Govind Singh, his brother Chandu Singh, nephew Golu Singh, and seven others booked for the murder of the Congress leader.
The Damoh police have registered case against them under sections of 302, 307,147,148 and other sections of IPC. Fifteen unidentified persons have also been booked in the case. Douskar further informed that 20 police parties have been constituted and STF have been deputed to arrest the absconding accused. The police are also analysing the mobile data and scanning CCTV camera footage.
Govind Singh, his brother, nephew, son of district panchayat president Indrapal Singh and two others allegedly assaulted Chourasia and his son with sharp-edged weapons and absconded from the spot. Chourasia later died during course of treatment in Jabalpur.
