Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is planning to spend Rs. 47 crores for the reconstruction of the Deonar slaughterhouse.
BMC has established Deonar slaughterhouse for providing meat to the citizens in a clean and healthy environment for legal slaughter of the animals. The administration is expected to arrange for necessary sheds for the animals, doctors for treating the animals, fodder and water for the animals at this slaughterhouse.
The Deonar slaughterhouse will be upgraded with solar energy lights will be installed, the sheds will be repaired and a new wall will be reconstructed after demolishing the old one. All this work is expected to cost Rs 47 crore.
Moreover, the old infrastructure is expected to be upgraded, including the old building. There will now be new buildings, security guards will be deployed and the entrance facilities will be made attractive. The municipal authorities ave claimed the non-licenced slaughterers will be shut down.
