2019 Toyota C-HR Gets Significant Price Cut, But No Optional All-Wheel Drive

Toyota’s entry-level crossover is entering the 2019 model year with a revised trim structure and a host of new features.

Costing $1,505 less than its predecessor, the 2019 C-HR has a simplified lineup that includes the entry-level LE, mid-grade XLE and range-topping Limited. Last year’s XLE Premium has been dropped and all models now come standard with an eight-inch infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay connectivity.

The $20,995 C-HR LE sits at the bottom of the lineup and comes equipped with an acoustic front windshield, LED daytime running lights and 17-inch steel wheels. Buyers will also find a dual-zone automatic climate control system, power windows / locks, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a 4.2-inch Multi-Information Display in the instrument cluster.

Despite its entry-level status, the LE comes with the Toyota Safety Sense suite of driver assistance systems. It includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, automatic high beam headlights and full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control.

Since the XLE Premium was dropped, the $23,030 C-HR XLE now comes standard with additional equipment including piano black interior trim and a push button ignition.  The model also gains auto-folding side mirrors with puddle lamps and a blind spot monitor with rear cross traffic alert. Other highlights include a leather-wrapped steering wheel and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The range-topping C-HR Limited starts at $26,050 and features a unique exterior with LED fog lights, chrome window trim and piano black B-pillars. The model also comes standard with rain-sensing wipers.

Moving into the cabin, drivers will find heated leather seats and an upgraded Entune 3.0 Audio Plus system. The model can also be equipped with an optional infotainment system featuring GPS navigation.

All models are powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 144 hp (107 kW / 146 PS) and 139 lb-ft (188 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a continuously variable transmission which sends power exclusively to the front wheels.
