Dhavalikar brothers paid homage to Parrikar

PANAJI: Deputy Chief Minister Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar on Tuesday stated that the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) leaders and senior members of the party had paid their respects to the departed chief minister Manohar Parrikar on March 18.

Dhavalikar also said that he, as well as the MGP president Pandurang ‘Deepak’ Dhavalikar however could not visit the cremation site on Monday evening to attend the funeral as they were occupied with the party meeting.

“I myself went to the residence of Parrikar early morning, and paid my tributes to him,” he informed, stating that he also performed the Hindu ritual of offering Tulsi leaf/ sugar to the departed person. I didn’t need any publicity for this visit,” he maintained.

Speaking further, Dhavalikar also stated that the MGP president and the senior members of the party had gone to pay their last respects to Parrikar at around noon, at the Kala Academy complex, where the mortal remains of the departed leader were lying-in-state.

“I agree that we could not attend the last rites,” he said, adding, “That does not mean we completely stayed away from the homage-paying exercise.”
