NEW DELHI: The Online registration process for admissions to government-run Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) is ending today, i.e., Tuesday, March 19, 2019.

Candidates, who are interested and seeking admission in KVs, are advised to fill up the form at the earliest possible, as the last date is unlikely to be extended.

Unlike private CBSE schools, there are no kindergarten sections in KVs and students are admitted to Class I onwards.
KV Sangathan (KVS) has launched the admission portal on March 1, 2019. Those willing can register themselves on the designated online portal (https://www.kvsonlineadmission.in/index.html).

KVS - an autonomous body functioning under the Union ministry for human resources development (MHRD), runs around 1,200 schools across the country.

Though they are primarily for children of central government employees, KVs became more prominent after Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009 came into effect.

A total of 25% seats are reserved for children belonging to economically weaker sections and socially backward families under this Act.

Admissions for Class XI will begin after board exam results of Class X CBSE students are released.

Similarly, admissions to other Classes (from Class II onward expect Class XI) is expected to begin on April 2, 2019.
