Police Commissioner Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao onMonday inaugurated the counselling centre at Koneru Lakshmaiah University (KLU) admissions department, on Museum Road, in the city.
Mr. Tirumala Rao, along with KLU vice-president Koneru Raja Hareen and vice-chancellor L.S.S. Reddy, also opened the office of the admissions director of the university.
Addressing newsmen, the Police Commissioner said the counselling centre would be helpful for parents and students, who were in a dilemma in opting for courses.
Praising the institute management for imparting quality education and achieving NAAC and A++ categories, Mr. Tirumala Rao asked KLU staff and students to keep up its reputation.
Mr. Hareen said the university was trying to prepare the students for multi jobs and issue a certificate which was globally identified. KLU was focussing on skill development and communication skills of the students, he said.
The vice-chancellor said that KLU was encouraging students to take up research works. The university was offering scholarships for meritorious students and those who represented it in games and sports at the State and national level, Mr. Reddy said.
Admission director J. Srinivas Rao and Ch. Uday Kumar and heads of various participated in the programme.
