NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: At least 26 candidates in Gautam Budh Nagar and 21 in Ghaziabad obtained the nomination forms on Monday for the upcoming Lok Sabha election. The election departments in Noida and Ghaziabad have made adequate arrangements and deployed troops on collectorate campuses to facilitate the process. The nomination process will continue till March 25.
In Ghaziabad, candidates flocked to the collectorate from 11 am to obtain forms. According to the officials, 21 candidates, including Samajwadi Party’s Surendra Kumar Munni, who is an alliance candidate of SP, BSP, RLD and Shiv Sena obtained forms. Ten Independent candidates and some representatives of lesser known parties also received the forms.
Sub-divisional magistrate of Dadri said, “Some of the persons, who came to obtain nomination forms, claimed to be representatives of registered parties. However, we consider the parties representation once they furnish nomination papers with the documents. On Monday, mostly Independent candidates and representatives of lesser known parties received forms. No one filed nomination papers on Monday.”
The candidates will get just four effective days for filing nominations since offices will remain closed on account of public holidays.
