Stating that the seizures effected by the flying squads have affected their business, the Coimbatore Jewellery Manufacturers Association has appealed to the Director of Investigations - Income Tax Department - Chennai to ensure the ease of doing business.
With the enforcement of the code of conduct for the elections, the revenue officials in flying squads seized jewellery even after producing documents and were handing it over to the Income Tax Department.
Hence, in a memorandum, Association president B. Muthuvenkatram and secretary R. Asokan urged the Income Tax Department to ensure verification of the seized materials and the documents on the spot and enable instant discharge of consignment and persons carrying it.
