Tanzanian final semester law student of MMU taken on remand in NDPS case

AMBALA: The Naraingarh crime investigation agency (CIA) acting on a tip-off have arrested a Tanzania resident identified as Charles White for allegedly actively peddling the purest form of heroin in the Mullana area from past long time. The CIA team arrested the accused Charles after recovering 12 gram of purest heroin from his possession on Monday.

The accused is a student of the final semester of five year BA, LLB at Maharishi Markandeshwar University (MMU) in Mullana.

On the complaint of SHO Mullana Ashwani Kumar, the Mullana police have registered a case against the accused Charles White under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act to start the further investigation into this case.


As per the First Information Report (FIR), “On Sunday night, the cops received the tip-off about the accused Charles that from past several years he is selling heroin in Mullana area and he is going to deliver contraband to his customer. Acting accordingly, the CIA Naraingarh team laid a checking post at Suhana road near Mullana Power House and stopped the accused riding a Pulsar motorcycle. While checking and after following the due procedure, the team recovered 12 gram of the purest heroin from his possession.”


The Mullana cops informed that after registering a case under relevant law, the accused was presented before the court on Monday, which had sent him on two-day police remand with the CIA.


Naraingarh CIA in-charge inspector Kewal Singh told TOI, “During the interrogation, the accused disclosed that he used to live in the university hostel but he was expelled as his did not deposit the hostel fee. We had the information about Charles that he is supplying the purest heroin in Mullana area from past some time and on Sunday night he got trapped into our net. As per the preliminary investigation, it came forward that the accused has a strong local network which used to procure the contraband through their contacts in Himachal Pradesh. So far, the interrogation is being done and it seems to be a large racket and our teams are out as per the information disclosed by the accused. We would seek his custody for some more days after presenting him in court on Wednesday as he is not cooperating.”
