Bandra Kurla Complex to Chunabhatti commute to get 3km shorter by July-end

Motorists will soon be able to travel from Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to Chunabhatti on the Eastern Express Highway (EEH) from July-end.

This week, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) completed a crucial phase for the 1.6 km project and launched six girders above the tracks near Sion and Chunabhatti. The work was undertaken in blocks allotted by the Railways between 1am and 3.30am.

RA Rajeev, metropolitan commissioner, MMRDA, said, “The Rs 155-crore elevated corridor from BKC to EEH is expected to decongest traffic in the Sion-Dharavi area, reduce the distance by 3kms and cut commute time by 30 minutes.”

MMRDA is also mulling extending the connector till Wadala, which is being planned as the next major hub after BKC.
