Complaint against Jayant Sinha for 'pro-BJP' IIM speech

RANCHI/HAZARIBAG: The Ranchi district administration on Monday slapped a case model code violation case against Hazaribag MP and minister of state (civil aviation) Jayant Sinha for allegedly publicising the achievements of the BJP-led government at a degree distribution ceremony programme of IIM-Ranchi two days ago.
On Sunday, principal opposition party, JMM wrote to chief electoral officer (Jharkhand) L Khiangte in this regard accusing the minister of using convocation to canvas for his party terming it as a gross violation with model code of conduct is in force in the country for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Garima Singh, Ranchi SDO, said, "We have filed a case under Section 123 of People's Representation Act against him (Jayant). It has been found that he violated the model code rule by sort of campaigning for party at private (institute) programme."

Ranchi deputy commissioner Rai Mahimapat said, "We have procured the convocation video from IIM Ranchi to cross check before lodging a complaint."


On the other hand in Hazaribag, five case of model code violations have been lodged involving BJP, JMM and Ajsu-P.


Hazaribag sub-divisional officer Megha Bharadwaj said, they have filed a case against BJP block president in Chouparan for tweeting objectionable content on social media.


Two cases were filed against JMM's block president Kuldeep Yadav and his wife Baby Devi. "Against Yadav, a case has been lodged at Bishnugarh police station for using the boundary walls of irrigation department office at Bano to paint party slogans," Bharadwaj said. She added, "His wife Baby, who is the mukhiya of Narki panchayat in Bishnugarh, is accused of inaugurating a mini water tower which was constructed using government funds." She also said the other two FIRs was against Ajsu-P for non-removal of party flags at Giddi area.
