Metro seeks 5-acre land for amenities near Ambazari Lake
Ashish Roy | TNN | Mar 19, 2019, 04:47 ISTNagpur: MahaMetro has decided to provide public amenities near its Little Wood plantation to develop ecotourism in the city.
The plantation spread over 75 acre on the banks of Ambazari Lake is located near Vasudeo Nagar and many trees have grown to quite a height. It has also laid walking tracks in the plantation. The Metro agency has sought five acre land from forest department to develop these amenities.
A Metro official said that the agency would develop parking space, washroom, cafeteria and probably a ticket counter on the land. “At present, only people living nearby come to the Little Wood for a walk. We want people living elsewhere should also take advantage of the facility. However, for this we need to provide basic amenities. We are yet to decide on charging ticket from the users,” he said.
The official further said that forest department had sought a detailed project report (DPR) from MahaMetro regarding the facilities to be provided on the five acre land. “The department will take a decision on the basis of the DPR,” he added.
Meanwhile, MahaMetro is readying the revised draft of memorandum of understanding (MoU) for acquiring 130 acre land on the banks of the lake. “We have already planted 6,000 trees and the MoU is just a formality. More trees will be planted in the coming years as funds become available,” said the official.
