Ludhiana: As Shiromani Akali Dal (Taksali) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) couldn’t iron out their differences and both wanted to contest on Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha Seat, SAD Taksali co-founder Sewa Singh Sekhwan on Sunday declared that the party will not form alliance with AAP. Though former MLA Sekhwan was here to hold meeting with AAP leaders, it could not be materialised.

Talking to mediapersons, SAD (Taksali) senior leader said they tried their best to give third alternative to people of Punjab as they were upset with both Congress and Badal. He added that they held five to seven meetings each with Punjab Democratic Alliance (PDA) and AAP to give Punjab a third option.

“It should be understood that as of now there is no alliance between SAD Taksali and AAP. We are standing alone in the coming Lok Sabha elections. We are in talks with smaller groups and are hopeful that they will come on board,” said said SAD (Taksali) leader maintaining that former Congress MLA and former deputy speaker of state assembly Bir Devinder Singh will contest from Anandpur seat.

AAP has announced Narinder Singh Shergill as their candidate from Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha seat.

Sources said founder of SAD (Taksali) Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, who parted with SAD (Badal) especially didn’t want to take back the candidate as he had himself announced the candidature of Bir Devinder whereas AAP leader Bhagwant Mann also had announced that they will not withdraw their candidate for the seat.
