All the Local Cable Television operators in the district have been asked to obtain media certification and certification from the monitoring committee before telecasting political advertisements.
Chairing a meeting with cable TV operators at the Collectorate here on Monday, District Revenue Officer S. Kavitha said that all the media were monitored round the clock through the media monitoring committee established at the Collectorate. She said the committee would be responsible for certification of advertisements, monitoring of news in print and electronic media and keeping records of all election-related news of candidates in the fray. Since poll related advertisements by the candidates had been included in the candidate’s expenditure accounts, operators should obtain certification before telecasting their advertisements.
Ms. Kavitha said that two copies of advertisements, production cost and details of other related expenses should be submitted to the committee headed by the District Election Officer and District Collector. She warned of action for telecasting advertisements of political parties without obtaining permission.
