Two robbers of inter-dist gang nabbed
tnn | Mar 19, 2019, 04:50 ISTVaranasi: Two members of an inter-district gang of robbers were arrested in a joint action of crime branch and Chaubeypur police after they were trying to escape after opening fire on the police on Monday.
The gang had looted cash and valuables from the house of Kashi Prasad in Molnapur village under Chaubeypur police station on March 10 night. The gang has been active in Varanasi, Bhadohi, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau and other districts of this region.
SSP Anand Kulkarni said that the crime branch and Chaubeypur police had cordoned Varanasi-Ghazipur highway. When the police siganlled to stop four persons on two motorcycles passed through the area. When the police signalled them to stop they opened indiscriminate firing on them and tried to escape, he said adding that, foiling their bid the police succeeded in nabbing two while two others managed to escape.
The arrested miscreants were identified as Rambabu Sonekar and Arman of Saidpur in Ghazipur district. The police also recovered a new motorcycle, cash Rs 75,000, mobile phones and ATM cards looted on March 10.
