Dhavalikar brothers skip Parrikar’s funeral

PANAJI: Minister for Public Works Ramakrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar and president of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party Pandurang ‘Deepak’ Dhavalikar were conspicuous by their absence at the funeral of former chief minister Manohar Parrikar attended by people from all walks of life.

The two were expected to make an appearance at the funeral to pay respect to the departed leader, especially as the former was the cabinet colleague of Parrikar, while the latter is the president of the political party, which was supporting the Parrikar government.

Incidentally, Goa Suraksha Manch chief, Subhash Velingkar, who was a close acquaintance of Parrikar, but had developed sharp differences with him over the issue of government grants to the English primary schools in the state, arrived at Kala Academy to pay respect to his one-time friend.
